Alumni programs are made up entirely of teens who have graduated from Foothills at Red Oak Recovery® and a select group of mental health and addiction professionals. Alumni groups meet regularly to share how teens are progressing after completing a treatment program and what challenges they’re facing in day-to-day life.
That’s not all that alumni programs offer. They can also include activities such as:
- Peer-to-peer support groups
- Events and celebrations
- Group activities
These help your teen keep interconnected with their recovery peers and learn to flourish as sober adults.

Meet Your Alumni Coordinator
Meet Your Alumni CoordinatorSpencer was born in Jacksonville, NC, just one minute after his identical twin brother, and grew up in Ulysses, Pennsylvania. He felt that living in a small town put him behind in typical adolescent experiences, and when he left for college, he was eager to catch up on what he had missed. However, after four semesters, Spencer decided to withdraw and relocated to the Raleigh/Durham area in North Carolina, where he found success and passion in the service industry.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Spencer became an administrator in a long-term assisted living and memory care facility in North Carolina. There, he discovered a deep passion for caring for residents who were unable to care for themselves, finding purpose in supporting both the residents and the staff. Unfortunately, during this time, Spencer lost touch with himself and neglected his own medication management.
In April 2022, Spencer made the decision to seek help and entered an inpatient rehab facility in Asheville, NC. After 90 days, he transitioned to sober living and began working as a Recovery Coach in a young men’s program. Later, Spencer joined Red Oak Recovery as the Alumni Coordinator. He continues to immerse himself in the local recovery community, building meaningful relationships and supporting others on their journey to recovery.
